The first sacramental mystery that a person participates in is baptism. Through it a human being is united to Christ in the Church and gains entrance into the Eucharistic community. Church recalls the joys and sorrows, the sufferings and rewards that being a follower of Christ entails.

To facilitate your role in the baptism, St. Edward Church offers you the following list of requirements which are to be followed in the church:

• You or your parents should be an active member or reside within the geographical boundaries of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church.


• Canon Law states that at least one of the Godparents must be a practicing Catholic who has received all of their sacraments. The other godparent must be at least a baptized Christian. You may only have one Godmother and one Godfather per child being baptized, others are sponsors. There is one class for parents and godparents that is required for baptism. If you or the godparents have taken a class before, you do not need to take the class again. You will simply need to get a letter of verification from the parish where you completed the class. If godparents do not live in the area, they may take a class at their nearby parish and bring a letter of verification.
