Faith Formation for Children

Who: 
Children of preschool age, kindergarten, and grades 1–3 are invited
What: 
Children come to 9:00am mass with parents and then are dismissed with catechists (teachers) for readings and reflections at their age level. Children then return to their parents after the homily.
When:
The program starts with an Orientation session on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 9:00a.m. in the Lunchroom at the Parish School. This meeting is mandatory for all parents. A detailed calendar will be given at this meeting.
Where: 
Children meet in the church, then are dismissed with catechists to classrooms in St. Edward the Confessor School building.

Who:
Children in Grades 1-5 (includes First Communion Preparation - see below).
What:
Religious Education and Faith Formation for appropriate grade levels.
When:
SUNDAY SESSIONS: 9:00am - 10:30am – once a month for parents and children beginning with a mandatory parent meeting on September 30, 2012.  Stay connected to our Sunday Sessions website.
MONDAY or WEDNESDAY SESSIONS: 4:30pm - 5:30pm – once a week beginning on either October 1 (Monday) or October 3 (Wednesday).  Parents are required to attend a parent/student orientation in the lunchroom of the school building on the first day of class. A classroom map & calendar will be distributed.

St. Edward the Confessor School Building - Lunchroom

Who:
Sacramental classes for older children (grades 3-6) and teens (grades 7-12) who have not received the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) is a one year process.  An entrance interview with the Director of Faith Formation will be scheduled for students and parents after enrollment.
What:
For children in grades 3-6:  Intergenerational (parents and children) sessions once a month; home study in between
For teens in grades 7-12:  evening sessions twice a month with catechists
When:
Children enrolled in grades 3-6:  Sunday morning, once a month,  9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Calendars will be given out at the parents meeting or online; there will be a mandatory parent meeting on September 30, 2012 in the Lunchroom of the Parish School.
Students enrolled in grades 7-12: 7:00 – 8:30 pm, twice a month. Calendars will be given out the first night (to be determined).  
Where:
St. Edward the Confessor School building for children’s sessions; Off-site home for teens (to be arranged later).
