Liturgy of the Word for Children

WHO: Children of Preschool age, Kindergarten, Grades 1 – 3.
WHAT: Children come to 9:00 a.m. mass with parents and then are dismissed with catechists (teachers) for readings and reflections at their age level. Children then return to their parents after the homily.
WHERE: Children meet in the church, then are dismissed with catechists to Lower Lunchroom in the Religious Education (School) building.

WHEN: PARENT ORIENTATION IIS SUNDAY, OCTOBER 3 AFTER THE 9:00 a.m. mass.  This meeting is mandatory for all parents who are required to take turns helping with the Sunday sessions. A detailed calendar will be given at this meeting. CHILDREN'S SESSIONS START THE FOLLOWING WEEK ON OCTOBER 10.

Elementary Religious Education Classes - Grades 1 - 5

WHO: Children in Grades 1-5 (includes First Communion preparation – see ** below).
WHAT: Religious Education classroom instruction for appropriate grade levels.
WHERE: Religious Education Building (St. Edward the Confessor School)

WHEN: Monday OR Tuesday - 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. (as space permits)

               BEGINS THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 27TH
NOTE: Parents are required to attend a parent/student orientation in the lower lunchroom of the school building on the first day of class. A classroom map & calendar will be handed out.

**First Communion Preparation**

Preparation for First Communion is a two-year process. Children may enter the program as early as first grade or any time after that. Preparation classes are also offered on Sunday as an additional option to the Monday OR Tuesday schedule.

Sunday classes begin on Sunday, October 3 AFTER the 9:00 a.m. Mass with a student/parent orientation (space is limited!).

Sunday classes regularly will be held DURING the 9:00 a.m. Mass.

Monday   OR Tuesday classes are held 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. and BEGIN THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 27th.

Middle School Program -  OUTLET  - Grades 6 - 7- 8        Calendar

WHO: Students in Grades 6, 7, 8
WHAT: Religious Education instruction and discussion in small faith sharing groups.
WHERE: Knight Hall

WHEN: We will begin with a student/parent orientation on September 26th @ 4:00 pm in Knight Hall.  Classes will be held on Sunday afternoons bi-monthly at 4:00 p.m. followed by Mass at 5:30. Calendars will be distributed at the orientation.

High School Confirmation

WHO: Students in High School may begin the process as early as 9 th Grade.
WHAT: Religious Education instruction and discussion for two years in small faith sharing groups.
WHERE: Parish facilities AND home sites to be assigned.
WHEN: Sunday Evenings 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.

CONFIRMATION I - begins with a PARENTS ONLY orientation on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 12th at 7:00 p.m. in the CHURCH.

CONFIRMATION II - begins with a PARENTS ONLY orientation on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 12th at 7:00 p.m. in the CHURCH..

Confirmation Class Make-up Work

Confirmation Student and Parent, below is the necessary make up work. If you have missed more than 1 Confirmation Class, make up work must be completed. Each date missed corresponds to a Series. Please review the date missed and click the appropriate series. Work must be downloaded and returned to the Faith Formation Office. Please note that the makeup work corresponds to numerous dates, regardless of date missed, you must complete the entire series corresponding to your date.

INSIGHT - High School Youth Ministry

WHO: All high school age youth.
WHAT: Gatherings on WEDNESDAY NIGHT from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. that include prayer, activities, group discussion and service.
WHERE: Knight Hall/Youth Room

WHEN: Ongoing, watch the parish bulletin for specific details.
NOTE: To register for Youth Ministry, please call the Youth Ministry office at 496-9719.

Catechumenate (Sacramental Classes) Adapted for Children (F.I.S.H.) and Teens

WHO: For children and teens that have delayed receiving the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist).
WHAT: Classroom instruction, discussion.

WHERE: Parish Room in St. Edward Religious Education building (children) and Youth Room in Knight Hall (Teens).
WHEN: PARENTS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND WITH CHILDREN IN GRADES 1 - 5 (F.I.S.H.) ON SCHEDULED SUNDAY MONTHLY MEETINGS (Calendar to be distributed).

9:00 - 11:00 a.m. beginning on Sunday, OCTOBER 10th..  Meet in Parish Room in the Religious Education building.

GRADES 6 - 12 - TEEN classes (Middle School and High School age) Time TBA Call the office for more information.
